PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
DC11 (1,9-Nonanedicarboxylic Acid) is a long chain dicarboxylic acid, which comes as a highly pure and white substance in powder form.

Undecanedioic acid, also known as DC11 or UDDA, is a dicarboxylic acid with the chemical formula C11H20O4. It is a member of the aliphatic dicarboxylic acid family, which contains two terminal carboxylic acid groups (-COOH) attached to an aliphatic carbon chain.

Undecanedioic acid consists of an unbranched carbon backbone containing 11 carbon atoms. The carbon chain provides flexibility and hydrophobic properties to the acid.

Similar to dodecanedioic acid, UDDA can be derived from various sources, including petrochemical feedstocks and renewable resources. It is typically produced through the oxidation of long-chain alkanes or by the microbial fermentation of fatty acids.

Undecanedioic acid is a white, crystalline solid with a melting point that is typically lower than that of dodecanedioic acid. It is sparingly soluble in water but dissolves readily in organic solvents such as ethanol and acetone. Corvay holds its own REACH registration of UDDA and works together with reliable manufacturers.

Undecanedioic acid shares some similarities with dodecanedioic acid in terms of properties and applications. However, due to its shorter carbon chain, it may exhibit slightly different characteristics and uses. Corvay supplies UDDA in various applications in different industries.

REFERENCE TO REGULATIONS
Chemical is REACh registered.

APPLICATIONS

  • Polymers
  • Lubricants
  • Corrosion inhibitors

Here are some of the common applications of DC11:

Polymers and Coatings:

Undecanedioic acid can be used as a building block in the production of polyesters and polyamides. It can undergo polymerization reactions with different monomers to form polymers with desired properties. These polymers find applications in coatings, adhesives, and engineering plastics.

Lubricants:

Undecanedioic acid and its derivatives are employed in the production of synthetic lubricants. They can be reacted with alcohols to form esters, which exhibit excellent lubricating properties, thermal stability, and low volatility. These lubricants are used in automotive, industrial, and aerospace applications.

Corrosion Inhibitors: Undecanedioic acid is utilized as a corrosion inhibitor in various industries, such as oil and gas, metalworking, and water treatment. It forms a protective film on metal surfaces, preventing corrosion caused by exposure to corrosive environments.

Chemical Intermediates:

Undecanedioic acid serves as a chemical intermediate for the synthesis of various compounds, including pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and specialty chemicals. It can undergo various chemical reactions to yield derivatives with specific functional groups and properties.

Personal Care Products:

Undecanedioic acid and its derivatives find applications in the manufacturing of personal care products, including shampoos, conditioners, skin creams, and cosmetics. They can act as emollients, moisturizers, and conditioning agents, providing desirable effects on the skin and hair.

Adhesives and Sealants:

Undecanedioic acid can be used as a curing agent in the production of adhesives and sealants. It contributes to the cross-linking of polymers, enhancing the adhesion, strength, and chemical resistance of the final products.

The applications of undecanedioic acid are not limited to the above. Ongoing research may uncover new uses for this versatile compound in the future.
